Kuga lights switching on

I've got a 2018 Ford Kuga diesel with about 140k on the clock and a weird electrical problem. The lights are acting up, sometimes they just switch on by themselves. A diagnostic is throwing an error related to the light switch. I suspect it might be a dodgy cable or plug connection. Anyone else experienced something similar?

Whoa, that sounds like a pain! Electrical gremlins are the worst. Does it affect all the lights, or just the headlights? Have you checked the fuse box? Sometimes a loose or corroded fuse can cause weird issues like that. The fuse box is usually under the dashboard or in the engine compartment. Maybe have a look there?

Thanks for the quick reply! It seems to affect all the lights, not just the headlights. Where exactly under the dashboard is the fuse box usually located? I'm not super familiar with car electrics, so any pointers would be great.

Okay, if it's affecting all the lights, that points even more to a fuse box issue or potentially the light switch itself. Under the dash, it's generally on the driver's side, behind a plastic panel. You might need a screwdriver to pop it open. But honestly, messing with electrics can be risky if you don't know what you're doing. If you're not confident, I'd seriously consider taking it to a workshop. Faulty electrics can cause a fire!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I had a look at the fuse box, but everything seemed okay. I decided to take it to a local garage as you suggested, and they confirmed it was indeed a faulty light switch and replaced it for 95€. All sorted now!
