Kuga power loss and whistling noise
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Ford Kuga with a diesel engine is experiencing power loss, poor acceleration, stalling, excessive fuel consumption, and a whistling noise during acceleration. The issues are suspected to be related to the boost pressure system, possibly involving the wastegate, intercooler, or MAP sensor. After consulting with another owner who had similar symptoms, it was confirmed that the problem was a defect in the wastegate valve, which was resolved by a workshop repair.

Turbo lag? Absolutely! It's like there's a huge delay when I put my foot down. Did you also hear a whistling sound?

Yep, the whistling was there too. Turned out to be a defect in the wastegate valve. I'd get it checked at a workshop. They will tell you what's wrong. Saved me a lot of headaches.

Thanks for the tip! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on – wastegate valve was the culprit. Cost me 860€ to get it fixed, but at least the Kuga's back to its old self.

Sounds familiar. I had something similar with my Kuga. Is it also sluggish, like bad turbo lag?
