Kuga Start Stop Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Ford Kuga diesel experienced a complete failure of its start-stop system, accompanied by a warning light and error codes. The issue was suspected to be related to the vehicle's original battery, which was likely no longer performing optimally due to age and usage. After replacing the battery, the start-stop system was restored to full functionality, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the tip! The battery is the original one, as far as I know. If the battery is weak, would that really stop the start-stop from working completely, and also trigger a warning light? Is there any way to check?

Yes, a heavily discharged or defective battery is a very common cause of start-stop failure in modern vehicles. Given the age of your Kuga and the original battery, it’s highly probable that the battery is no longer performing optimally. I advise getting it checked at a reputable workshop.

Thanks so much for your help! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – it was the battery. They replaced it, cleared the error codes, and now the start-stop is working again. Cost me 290€, but at least it's sorted.

It sounds like your battery might be the culprit. Start-stop systems are very sensitive to battery condition. Is the battery original? How old is it?
