Kuga warning light and smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Ford Kuga with a gasoline engine is experiencing a warning light and excessive smoke during acceleration, possibly due to a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor. The engine is also running rough, particularly at lower RPMs. It is advised to have the vehicle checked by a mechanic to confirm the issue and avoid further damage.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, the engine is running rough, especially at lower RPMs. Did you fix it yourself, or did you take it in?

Given the rough running and smoke, I wouldn't drive it much. I took mine to a shop, and they confirmed it was the back pressure sensor. Better get it checked to be sure.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to book it in with a mechanic to check the exhaust back pressure sensor. They quoted around 245€. Thanks again for your help.

I had a similar problem on my Kuga. Is the engine running rough at all? It does sound like the back pressure sensor. If it's bad, it can cause those symptoms.
