Lacetti battery draining issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Chevrolet Lacetti diesel is experiencing a battery draining issue, with symptoms like error messages, weak lights, and a weak battery. The suspected cause is a defective battery sensor, which can lead to incorrect charging by the alternator. The solution involves checking the sensor and its connections, and a workshop diagnosis confirmed the sensor was faulty, resolving the issue after replacement.

Yes, I checked the wiring and connections; they seem fine visually. What was the eventual cause in your case? Was it the sensor itself or something else drawing power?

Turns out it was the sensor itself throwing off the charging system. The alternator was trying to compensate for a false reading, overcharging then undercharging, killing the battery slowly. I'd suggest getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop; they have better tools for pinpointing it.

Thanks for the tip. I took it to a workshop as you suggested. Indeed, it was the battery sensor. Repair cost me 315€. All error messages are gone and the car starts fine now.

Sounds familiar. I've got a Lacetti too. Had similar electrical gremlins – low battery warnings, lights acting up. Did you check the battery sensor wiring and connections? They can corrode and cause weird readings.
