Lacetti ECU Main Relay Issue

Having trouble with my 2007 Chevrolet Lacetti diesel, about 96,000 km on it. Noticed a significant drop in engine power. Local garage found an error pointing towards the engine control unit, suspecting a defective main relay. Anyone experienced something similar? What to check before a potentially hefty repair bill?

I had something similar with my Lacetti. Reduced power, engine light on... Drove me nuts. Did they mention anything else?

They mentioned the main relay specifically, and said that could cause the ECU to malfunction. What was the actual cause in your case? Was it the relay, or something else entirely?

Yep, sounds familiar. Mine ended up being a faulty relay causing issues with the ECU. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it properly diagnosed at a decent workshop. Saved me a lot of headaches.

That's really helpful! Took it to a trusted mechanic, and as you suspected, it was indeed the main relay causing the ECU issues. Got it replaced for 120€, and the car is running perfectly again!
