Lacetti Transmission Oil Pressure Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Chevrolet Lacetti exhibited transmission issues, including slipping, unclean shifts, and grinding, with an engine warning light indicating a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. The core problem was identified as a critically low gearbox oil level, which can cause such symptoms and trigger sensor faults. The solution involved checking and refilling the gearbox oil, replacing the faulty sensor, and conducting a diagnostic evaluation, which resolved the issue.

Where would I find the dipstick or inspection port to check the gearbox oil level on this Lacetti? I'm not familiar with its configuration.

Some older models don't have a dipstick. You might have a fill plug on the side of the transmission. Get the car level and remove the plug; the oil level should be at the bottom of the hole. Honestly, with those symptoms, the mileage, and not being super familiar with it, I'd take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and prevent further damage.

I consulted a workshop. The gearbox oil level was critically low, causing the symptoms and sensor fault. After an oil change, sensor replacement, and diagnostic evaluation, the issue is resolved. The repair cost 365€.

Those symptoms sound rough. It could be the pressure switch, but have you checked your gearbox oil level? Low oil can cause weird transmission issues, making it slip and throw codes. It's an easy check, and worth doing before replacing sensors.
