Lafesta ABS and Steering Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Nissan Lafesta owner experienced simultaneous issues with the tire pressure warning light, ABS light, and steering problems, including a vibrating steering wheel and increased steering effort. The initial suspicion was a faulty tire sensor or an unnoticed puncture. After professional inspection, the root cause was identified as a defective tire valve sending incorrect data to the car's computer, affecting multiple systems. Repairing the valve resolved the issues.

Thanks for the quick reply! All tires are inflated to the recommended pressure, and I can't see any visible wear that would indicate a punctured tire. It's really strange. If it is a faulty tire sensor, is it possible for one sensor to cause the ABS and power steering issues as well? Or are those symptoms likely pointing to a separate, but related, problem?

While it's less common, a defective valve in tire can indeed sometimes interfere with other systems, especially if it's sending erroneous data that the car's computer is misinterpreting. However, given the symptoms, it would be wise to have a professional diagnostic check performed. It's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause without a hands-on inspection. I would advise that you take your Lafesta to a workshop to have it checked out.

Thank you so much for your advice! I took it to a workshop as you suggested. It turned out to be a defective valve in tire that was sending incorrect information to the car's computer, which was causing all the other symptoms. The repair cost me 280€. All seems to be sorted now.

That's certainly a perplexing situation. The combination of the tire pressure warning, ABS light, and steering issues does point towards a possible sensor malfunction, but there are a few things to consider. Are all four tires showing the correct pressure readings? Even a slight difference can trigger the warning system. Also, have you noticed any unusual wear patterns on your tires? Irregular wear could indicate a larger problem affecting the vehicle's handling.
