Lafesta check engine light and power loss

I'm writing to ask about a potential issue with my 2012 Nissan Lafesta with a gasoline engine. The check engine light came on, and I've noticed reduced engine power, with smoke during acceleration. The car has 96315 km. I suspect a malfunctioning crankcase ventilation valve. Any insights or similar experiences?

Hey! Sounds frustrating. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa – check engine light, rough idle, the works. It turned out to be a faulty valve causing a vacuum leak. Is your Lafesta's idle also rough, or does it seem normal?

Thanks for your response. The idle does seem somewhat irregular, fluctuating more than usual. Could you elaborate on the vacuum leak you experienced and if that was also related to the crankcase ventilation?

Yeah, the vacuum leak messed with the idle something fierce. It was the same valve causing the problem, messing up emissions and engine performance. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop to be sure. Could save you headaches.

Understood. Thanks for sharing your experience and the recommendation. I'll schedule an appointment with a trusted mechanic to inspect the crankcase ventilation valve and address the potential vacuum leak. I will post the solution as soon as the repairs are done. The mechanic confirmed the defective valve and the final repair cost was 360€
