Laguna ABS light lateral acceleration sensor fault

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2004 Renault Laguna diesel. The ABS light keeps appearing, and the ABS system isn't working. A diagnostic scan shows a fault with the lateral acceleration sensor. The mileage is 71796 km. Has anyone else experienced this? It feels like the car's balance is off.

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Laguna. Check the steering angle sensor and wheel alignment. A bad sensor can mess with the vehicle stability and trigger those warnings. Did the diagnostic scan show any specific error codes?

Thanks for the tip! I will check the steering angle sensor and wheel alignment. The error memory pointed to a defective control unit. Does this sound familiar?

Yep, sounds exactly like what I went through. A defective control unit affecting the lateral acceleration sensor is the most likely cause. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed and replaced. It's a safety warning you don't want to ignore.

Thanks a lot for the help! I took it to the workshop as you suggested. It was indeed the control unit. Cost me around 1000€ to get it sorted, but at least the ABS is working again and the car feels stable. Really appreciate your input!
