Laguna Cruise Control Failure

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2003 Renault Laguna diesel. The cruise control has suddenly stopped working. There's an error stored, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet. Any ideas where to start? I've checked fuses, but no luck. Could it be something related to the steering wheel controls or maybe a speed sensor?

Hey! Cruise control issues can be tricky. Since you've checked the fuses, that's a good start. It could indeed be the steering wheel controls, but more likely it's a faulty connection somewhere. Have you had a look at the throttle position sensor or the pedal switch connections? A bad signal from either of those could disable the cruise control. Also, does the car show any other symptoms, like issues with acceleration or idling?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't specifically checked the throttle position sensor or pedal switch connections yet. Where exactly are those located, and is there an easy way to test them? Also, no other symptoms, the car runs perfectly fine otherwise. Could it still be the speed sensor if everything else seems normal?

Okay, if the car runs fine otherwise, it's less likely to be the speed sensor itself. The throttle position sensor is usually on the throttle body, connected to the accelerator pedal linkage. The pedal switch(es) are right on the brake and clutch pedals. You can check the connections for corrosion or loose wires. Testing them properly usually requires a multimeter to check the signal output. Given that there's an error code stored, and you've checked the basics, it might be worth getting a proper diagnostic scan done at a workshop to pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and they confirmed it was a defective cable/plug connection, like you mentioned. They fixed it for 95€, and the cruise control is working perfectly again. I really appreciate the help!
