Laguna Diesel Stalling

Alright, I've got a real head-scratcher. My 2015 Renault Laguna diesel is throwing a hissy fit. The check engine light is on, and the engine stalls something awful at idle. Seems to me like a fuel tank ventilation issue, but what do I know? I already checked all the hoses I could see for obvious cracks but saw nothing. Mileage is around 50k km. Anyone got any ideas where to start?

Greetings. I am writing to inquire whether you have considered the possibility of a defective activated charcoal filter? I experienced comparable symptoms with my Laguna, specifically the activation of the check engine light and irregularities during idling. The activated charcoal filter, responsible for capturing fuel vapors, could potentially be the origin of the ventilation system malfunction. A blocked or damaged filter may impede appropriate air flow, influencing the fuel efficiency and triggering leak detection systems.

Interesting. I hadn't really thought about the charcoal canister itself. Where is it located on the Laguna, and is there an easy way to test its function? Just curious about the specifics of your problem.

The charcoal canister is typically situated near the fuel tank, or potentially in the engine compartment, contingent upon the specific configuration of your vehicle. Unfortunately, I lack the technical expertise to provide detailed instructions regarding diagnostic procedures. Considering the aforementioned factors, I would suggest that you seek guidance from a qualified workshop for a comprehensive assessment and potential resolution to the issue.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to my usual garage. Turns out you were spot on. The garage just called, it was a defective charcoal filter. Repair cost will be around 275€ all in. Thanks!
