Laguna door lock fault
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Laguna diesel has a door lock issue where the doors can't be locked or unlocked, suspected to be due to a faulty cable or plug connection. A similar problem in another vehicle was caused by a broken wire in the door latch wiring harness. The suggested solution was to inspect the wiring harness, particularly where it connects from the car body to the door. The issue was resolved by repairing a defective plug connection at a workshop.

Thanks for the suggestion. Can you give more details on how you found the broken wire? Did you use any tools or methods to diagnose it?

Well, I just started by wiggling the wiring harness with the door open to see if the locks would flicker. When they did, I knew I was close. Then I carefully inspected the wires, and I found one that was almost completely severed inside the insulation. Honestly, though, these modern cars are so complex now, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop if you're not comfortable messing with it. Could save you a lot of hassle!

I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was a defective plug connection, as I suspected. The repair cost 95€, and it's now fixed. Thanks again!

Hey! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The automatic locks went haywire, and it turned out to be a broken wire in the door latch wiring harness. Have you checked the harness where it goes from the car body into the door? That's where mine failed.
