Laguna engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Renault Laguna diesel with 234,578 km is experiencing engine power loss and a check engine light. The initial suspicion is a faulty throttle valve, but the accelerator pedal module or its electronics could also be the issue. Another user with a similar problem suggests checking the throttle sensor, air intake, and throttle body for carbon buildup. Ultimately, replacing the throttle valve resolves the issue, confirming it as the root cause.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me more about your experience? Was the throttle valve the reason? Did cleaning the throttle body or replacing the throttle sensor fix it, or was there something else?

Yes, a bad throttle valve was the problem for me. I suggest going to a workshop. You'll probably need to replace the throttle valve for around 265€.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Your advice was really helpful. I took the car to my workshop, and the mechanic said it was a bad throttle valve. Just like you said, replacing it fixed the problem, and the cost was almost exactly what you predicted. I really appreciate your help!

I had a similar problem with my Laguna. Less engine power and the check engine light were on. Have you checked the throttle sensor and air intake? They can affect fuel efficiency and cause limp mode. Also, check the throttle body for carbon buildup.
