Laguna Misfire Jerking

My 2007 Renault Laguna with a petrol engine is running super rough. The check engine light is on, and I've got this persistent jerking when I try to accelerate. I hooked it up to a code reader and it's throwing misfire errors. Could it be the fuel pump on its way out, or maybe even the oxygen sensor playing up? I read somewhere that exhaust leaks can also mess things up – anyone experienced similar?

I had a similar issue with my Laguna. Check the crankshaft sensor first. However, rough idling and jerking can also be due to a multitude of other things. When was the last time you checked your spark plugs or ignition coils?

I appreciate the tip. The spark plugs were changed about 20,000 km ago. Ignition coils haven't been touched though. When you had the issue, did the crankshaft sensor throw a specific error code, or was it more of a general misfire thing?

I don't recall the specific error code, unfortunately. I do remember a general misfire code and the diagnostic pointed towards it. Given that you've got the check engine light on and jerking, I'd seriously consider getting it checked at a workshop. They'll be able to run proper diagnostics.

Thanks a lot! Took your advice and brought it to a local shop. Turns out there was a small leak in the exhaust system that was throwing everything off! Cost me 265€ to fix, but the engine is running smooth again. Cheers for pointing me in the right direction!
