Laguna Overheating Electric Fan Issue

My 2007 Renault Laguna (gasoline engine) is overheating like crazy. The needle is spiking, especially in traffic. I've noticed the electric fan isn't kicking in. Could it be a bad connection somewhere?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Renault Laguna is experiencing overheating issues, particularly in traffic, due to the electric fan not activating. The problem is suspected to be a bad connection. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by checking and fixing the wiring and connections on the fan motor. The suggested solution is to inspect the wiring for loose connections, and ultimately, a workshop visit confirmed a bad plug, which was replaced to resolve the overheating problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! Had a similar overheating issue with my old Peugeot 307. Turned out to be a dodgy plug on the fan motor. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the fan?

Yeah, I glanced at them, but didn't really dig in. Where exactly should I be looking for these dodgy plugs? Like, where on the fan motor itself?

On the Peugeot, it was right on the motor housing. Give the wires a wiggle, see if anything's loose. But honestly, sounds like workshop time to me. Save yourself the hassle.

Cheers! Took it to a shop, and you were spot on! Bad connection, they replaced a plug, and now it's running cool as a cucumber! Cost me 95€.
