LandCruiser Audio System Failure

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2017 Toyota LandCruiser diesel. The audio system just completely died. No sound at all! I've checked all the fuses, and they seem fine. The display lights up, but there's no volume control, no Bluetooth, nothing. I even tried resetting the dashboard controls, but still nothing. Could it be a defective display? Has anyone else had this happen?

Summary of the thread

The 2017 Toyota LandCruiser experienced a complete audio system failure, with no sound or Bluetooth functionality, despite the display lighting up. Initial checks of the fuses and a dashboard reset did not resolve the issue. The problem was suspected to be a defective display, but it was advised to check the error memory for specific diagnostic codes that could reveal the exact fault. Ultimately, a mechanic confirmed and fixed a faulty display module.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Greetings. A complete audio system failure in a 2017 Toyota LandCruiser, as you describe, does indeed suggest a potential hardware fault. The illumination of the display, coupled with the absence of audio output (including Bluetooth functionality), points away from a simple fuse issue. While it's commendable that you checked the fuses, have you examined the error memory using an appropriate diagnostic tool? A stored error code could provide invaluable insights into the root cause of the problem. Furthermore, could you elaborate on the process by which you attempted to reset the dashboard controls? Was this a factory reset procedure performed via the infotainment system, or some other method?

Thanks for the reply! I don't have a diagnostic tool myself, so I haven't checked the error memory. The dashboard reset was just through the settings menu on the display itself, like a factory reset. Is checking the error memory really that important? If it's just a defective display, wouldn't that be obvious?

Indeed, accessing the error memory is of paramount importance in such scenarios. While a defective display is a plausible cause, the error memory often contains specific diagnostic codes that can pinpoint the exact component or circuit at fault. These codes may reveal issues beyond a simple display malfunction, such as a faulty amplifier, communication bus errors, or even software glitches. Attempting to diagnose the problem without this information is akin to navigating in the dark. Given the symptoms and your limited access to diagnostic equipment, it would be prudent to consult a qualified automotive technician. They possess the tools and expertise to accurately diagnose the fault and recommend the appropriate course of action. It sounds like the display is defective and I would guess the repair to cost around 725€.

Okay, I understand. I appreciate the advice! I'll take it to a workshop to get the error memory checked. Your insights were super helpful! I brought it to a local mechanic who confirmed a faulty display module. All fixed now!
