LandCruiser Camshaft Sensor Issue

Experiencing issues with my 2012 Toyota LandCruiser diesel, around 111890 km. Poor starting, reduced power. Error memory shows a camshaft sensor issue, suspect cable or plug. Anyone seen this?

A defective camshaft sensor can cause those symptoms. Have you checked the crankshaft sensor as well? Sometimes that mimics camshaft sensor issues, leading to rough idling or even engine misfires. What error code did the scan tool show?

Haven't checked the crankshaft sensor yet. Where is it located on the LandCruiser, and is it easy to access? The error code was related to the camshaft position sensor signal being intermittent.

Okay, intermittent camshaft position sensor signal and starting issues point strongly to that sensor or its wiring. Given the error code and your initial suspicion about the wiring, it might be worth getting it checked out by a workshop. It could be more than just a loose connection. Timing issues can be a pain.

Took it to a workshop, and it was a defective camshaft sensor and a corroded connector. They replaced the sensor and repaired the wiring for 95€. The LandCruiser is now running smoothly again.
