A hissing sound, huh? I haven't specifically listened for that, but I'll check. How did you figure out it was the manifold pressure sensor? And what exactly does that sensor do?

Well, the hissing was faint, like air escaping a tire slowly. The sensor, also known as a MAP sensor, tells the engine computer how much air is going into the engine, which affects fuel mixture. When mine failed, it was because of a large vacuum leakage. Honestly, I took it to a workshop to get it diagnosed properly. They replaced the sensor, and it cost me around 235€. I'd suggest you do the same, it is a relatively cheap fix.

Thanks so much for the insight! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took it to my mechanic, and you were spot on – faulty manifold pressure sensor due to a vacuum leak. Got it replaced, and everything's running smoothly again!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my LandCruiser. Have you noticed any hissing sounds, like a vacuum leak? My issue turned out to be a faulty manifold pressure sensor. Basically, the computer wasn't getting the right information about how much air was going into the engine. Do you know if yours is throwing any specific codes?
