LandCruiser Gear Shift Indicator Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Toyota LandCruiser is experiencing issues with a non-functional gear shift indicator, improper gear engagement, slipping shifts, and grinding noises. An error code suggests a problem with the control unit. A similar case was resolved by replacing the faulty control unit, which corrected the gear selection issues. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked at a workshop to address the control unit problem.

Slipping is an understatement! It's like stirring soup sometimes! And yeah, the dash is blank where the gear selection should be. So, yours was the instrument panel, was it? What exactly went wrong?

Yep, mine was doing the same. Workshop confirmed it was a faulty control unit playing havoc with the gear selection. They replaced it, and it sorted everything. Best get it checked out!

Appreciate the info. Sounds like I'm heading to the workshop then. From what you and the error code are saying, looks like the control unit is the likely culprit. I'll let you know how it goes. Estimate is around 1000€.

Sounds rough! I had something similar with my LandCruiser, though I can't remember the year. Was your auto trans slipping and showing nothing on the dash? Was it diagnosed as the instrument panel, or something else?
