LandCruiser Jerking Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2001 LandCruiser diesel with around 200,000 km is experiencing issues such as jerking during acceleration, a whistling noise turning to hissing under load, occasional stalling, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. The check engine light is on, and the suspected causes include a faulty boost pressure sensor or a bad cable/plug. After investigation, the problem was identified as a faulty boost pressure sensor and a corroded connector, which were resolved for 95€ including parts and labor.

Thanks! I've visually checked the accessible hoses, but no pressure test yet. Did your Volvo have jerking or stalling? What fixed it?

The Volvo didn't stall, but the power loss and check engine light were constant. It was a split in a hidden hose near the intercooler, a pain to find. With the stalling and hissing, I'd get it checked by a workshop. Could be more than just a hose.

Good call, it was a faulty boost pressure sensor and corroded connector. Cost 95€ including parts and labor. Thanks!

Sounds frustrating! I had similar issues with my old Volvo V70, though the whistling was more of a squeal. Check engine light was always on, driving me nuts. Could be a boost leak somewhere. Have you checked all the hoses and connections around the turbo?
