LandCruiser rough cold start
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Toyota LandCruiser diesel is experiencing rough cold starts and increased fuel consumption, with an error stored in the memory. The mechanic suspects a defective PTC heater as the cause. Another person with similar issues confirmed that the electric auxiliary heater was responsible for their cold start problems and higher fuel consumption. The suggested solution is to have the PTC heater checked and potentially replaced, which was confirmed by a workshop.

Yeah, it smooths out after a bit. Blower motor seems fine, plenty of airflow, just no real heat initially. Was it definitely the electric auxiliary heater causing your cold start issues? Did you also see elevated fuel consumption?

Confirmed, same symptoms. The electric auxiliary heater was the culprit. Error code pointed directly to it. Regarding fuel consumption, yes, it was noticeably worse before the repair. I recommend getting it checked at a workshop; they should be able to confirm it.

Workshop confirmed it's the PTC heater, and it's gonna be about 350€ to replace. Thanks for the help!

I've had a similar issue with my LandCruiser. Does the poor running smooth out after a few minutes? And have you noticed if the blower motor seems to be working fine, just no heat?
