LandCruiser Stalling at Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2002 LandCruiser was experiencing stalling at idle with the check engine light on. The suspected cause was a malfunctioning tank ventilation valve and clogged hoses. After investigation, it was confirmed that the ventilation valve and some hoses were indeed the problem. Replacing the valve and clearing the hoses resolved the issue, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm diving back in. Which specific hoses were the culprits on your rig? Any tricks for getting to them without dismantling half the engine bay?

I remember it was the hoses connected directly to the ventilation valve which were clogged. Honestly, my knowledge is limited, and I ended up taking it to a workshop. They replaced the valve and cleared the hoses. A proper smoke test might be useful.

It WAS the tank ventilation valve, just like I suspected! Turns out a couple of the hoses were indeed clogged solid. A new valve and some fresh hoses set me back 175€, but she's purring like a kitten again. Thanks for the tip!

I had a similar issue with my LandCruiser. The check engine light and stalling sounds familiar. Have you checked the EVAP system hoses for cracks or blockages? That purge valve can cause havoc if it's not breathing properly.
