Latio ABS and Traction Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Nissan Latio is experiencing ABS and traction control issues, with the ABS light illuminated, suggesting a potential system failure. A possible cause identified is a faulty speed sensor, which affects the car's ability to monitor wheel speed and can lead to traction problems. The recommended solution is to have diagnostic codes read at a workshop to confirm the issue, potentially requiring the replacement of the defective control unit.

Diagnostic codes? No, I haven't done that. Is it something I can check myself, or do I need special equipment? Where's the speed sensor located, and what does it do exactly?

You'll need to get the codes read at a workshop. The speed sensor tells the car how fast each wheel is turning. If the control unit that reads the sensors is defective, that would explain the errors. I had to get the affected control unit replaced.

Thanks! I'll take it to a workshop and have them check the control unit. Sounds like it will be expensive. I've been quoted around 1000€ for the job, but at least it will be fixed!

I had something similar with my Latio. ABS light, traction control going nuts... sounds like a speed sensor fault. Did you get any diagnostic codes read?
