Latio Electric Steering Column Failure

Hey, I'm having an issue with my 2009 Nissan Latio diesel. My electric steering column adjustment is completely dead. The dashboard isn't showing any warnings while driving, but when I scanned it, I got an error stored in the error memory. Now the steering column can no longer be adjusted electrically. I've had a quick look and the likely cause the system threw up was either the cable or the plug connection of the component might be defective. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any ideas where to start looking before I take it to a mechanic?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I've got a Latio too, and I had something similar happen a while back. My steering column went all wonky, wouldn't adjust anymore. I didn't get an error code, but it felt like something was loose. Did you check the fuses?

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the fuses, and they all seem to be fine. Was your issue exactly the same – like, the motor just completely stopped working? And did you happen to find out what the problem was in the end?

Yep, exactly the same. The steering column motor was dead as a doornail. I fiddled with it for an hour or two and got nowhere fast, so I ended up taking it to a workshop. They sorted it. Honestly, I'd say save yourself the headache and just let a pro look at it. These things can be trickier than they seem!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Sounds like I'm heading down the same road. I took it to a local mechanic; the cable to the module and the connection was gone. The repair bill came to 95€, including parts and labor. Glad it's sorted now!
