Latio Preheating Issue

Hey, I have a 2009 Nissan Latio with a diesel engine. The preheating lamp doesn't switch off and the check engine light is on. It also smokes when accelerating. Mileage is at 115954 km. I suspect the preheating control unit is defective, likely a cable or plug connection. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, also a diesel. The engine preheat system was acting up. Is it hard to start in the cold?

Starting is still okay, even in colder weather. So you're saying the engine preheat was the culprit?

Yeah, turned out to be a faulty connection in the heating module. If starting is fine, it's probably not the glow plugs themselves. I'd get it checked at a workshop, they'll diagnose it properly.

Thanks. You were right. The garage confirmed it was a defective cable to the preheating control unit. Repair cost me 95€. All good now.
