Latio transmission oil temperature sensor fault

I'm pulling my hair out here. I've got a 2015 Nissan Latio, gasoline engine, and it's throwing fits. The engine warning light keeps popping on, sometimes the transmission light too. I've scanned the codes and it points to a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor. Symptoms? Oh, plenty! It's gone into emergency mode a couple of times, the shifts are jerky, and sometimes I hear a slight grinding noise when shifting. Mileage is about 198481 km. I checked the oil level and it seemed a bit low, could that be messing with the sensor readings?

Low gearbox oil can definitely cause havoc with those sensors! It's like trying to run a marathon on an empty stomach – things are bound to go wrong. Is the oil REALLY low or just a tad under the 'full' mark? And did you check for any leaks around the transmission?

Good analogy! It was maybe half a quart low, nothing drastic. I didn't spot any obvious leaks, but I haven't put it up on ramps for a super thorough inspection yet. If the oil level was the issue, would that trigger the sensor in this way?

Half a quart low could absolutely be enough to trigger the sensor, especially at that mileage. It's like your body – even slight dehydration can throw things off. Still, that grinding noise is worrying. Best get it checked by a professional to be safe. They can properly diagnose the sensor and confirm the oil level isn't masking a bigger problem.

Thanks for the advice! I topped up the oil, but the grinding noise remained, so I took it to a workshop. Turns out the sensor WAS faulty and needed replacing. The low oil likely contributed to the problem. Repair set me back about 365€, but at least it's running smoothly now!
