Latitude Air Leak
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Renault Latitude with a gasoline engine is experiencing increased fuel consumption, a check engine light, and a loud hissing sound during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential air leak in the intake system, possibly around the turbocharger. A cracked intake hose near the turbo was identified as the issue, and repairing it resolved the problems, restoring normal fuel economy and eliminating the hissing sound.

Thanks for the quick reply! Around the turbocharger, you say? Was it a specific hose or connection there that was the culprit? Just trying to narrow down my search area before I start tearing things apart.

Yep, for me it was a split in one of the smaller hoses connected to the intake manifold near the turbo. Honestly, unless you're really confident working on it yourself, I'd suggest getting a mechanic to take a look. It's a fiddly job and you don't want to mess anything else up.

Appreciate the advice! I had a mechanic check it out, and you were spot on – a cracked intake hose near the turbo. The whole repair cost around 100€, but at least the hissing is gone and the fuel economy is back to normal. Thanks again for the help!

Sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my Latitude a while back – the hissing, the check engine light, the terrible fuel economy... it was driving me nuts. Have you checked around the turbocharger? That's where my air leak ended up being.
