Latitude Audio System Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Renault Latitude's audio system stopped working, with no sound from the speakers and unresponsive controls. A diagnostic revealed an error related to the head unit. Despite the display functioning normally, the issue was identified as an internal failure within the head unit affecting audio processing. The suggested solution was to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed, which confirmed the display unit was defective and required replacement.

The display lights up and shows all the usual information, like the time and temperature. I can also navigate through the menus using the other dashboard controls, just nothing related to the audio system seems to function. So, if the display works, but the sound is gone, does that still point to a defective display?

Yes, even with a working display, internal failures within the head unit can specifically affect the audio processing. The error code points in that direction. Considering the age of the vehicle, it's probable. I would suggest taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis to be certain before replacing parts.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right. The display was defective and needed replacement. The repair cost me 725€. At least now I can listen to music again.

Could be a defective display unit. Analogue TVs would sometimes fail in a similar way. To confirm, does the display itself light up and show information, or is it completely blank?
