Latitude generator failure
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Renault Latitude diesel is experiencing generator failure, leading to reduced engine power, a speedometer warning light, hard starting, and weak or flickering lights. The error memory indicates a problem, suggesting the generator as the likely culprit. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by confirming the generator's defect at a workshop, which is recommended for accurate diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the suggestion. How did you approach testing the charging system? Did you focus on specific components? What were your readings, if you remember?

Honestly, I don't have the equipment to properly test the charging system, and I didn't want to start replacing parts blindly. I took my Insignia straight to the workshop after checking basic things myself, and they confirmed it was the generator. Given your symptoms and stored error, a workshop visit might be best.

Understood. I appreciate the insight. I visited a workshop, and the generator was indeed defective. The repair cost 960€.

I had similar issues with my 2014 Opel Insignia. Weak lights, hard starting, dashboard lit up. I initially suspected the battery or starter, but the serpentine belt was fine. Have you checked the charging system?
