Thanks for the quick reply! That sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing. You mentioned the front or rear might be lower... Now that you mention it, it does seem like the front sits a bit lower than the back. Where are these height sensors located? Is it something I could potentially check myself, or is it more of a professional job?

Indeed, the front being lower suggests that the issue is in one of the front sensors. I understand the desire to check it yourself, but these sensors are usually connected to the control module, which is a small electronic board that processes all the sensor data. I would recommend visiting a trusted workshop. If it's just the control rod on the sensor, the repair cost should be in the neighborhood of 110€.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to my local mechanic, and you were spot on – it was a defective control rod on the front height sensor. They replaced it, and everything is back to normal now. The ride is smooth, the headlights are aligned, and the warning light is gone. The total cost was exactly what you predicted. I really appreciate the help!

Greetings! This is an interesting issue you have there. I own a Latitude too, and I experienced similar symptoms not too long ago. The 'Height control restricted' message popped up, the headlights were behaving erratically, and the ride quality was definitely compromised. It felt like the car was bouncing all over the place, especially at lower speeds. It turned out to be a defective control rod on one of the height sensors. These sensors, also sometimes called load sensors, are part of the leveling system that automatically adjusts the vehicle's height to maintain a consistent ride. By leveling system I mean that the vehicle tries to keep the body always in a horizontal position. Which side seems to be lower, front or rear?
