Latitude steering angle sensor issue

My 2011 Renault Latitude with a gasoline engine has steering issues. The power steering seems to cut out intermittently, and the wheel vibrates like crazy, especially at lower speeds. I think it's the steering angle sensor; the coding seems messed up. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar issue with my Latitude. Increased effort when steering and shaking, though not quite as violent. Have you checked your wheel alignment recently? That can sometimes throw off the sensor readings.

Wheel alignment? Interesting. I hit a nasty pothole last week. Could that really be the problem? I thought it was deeper in the steering column, like the sensor failing. How bad was your issue before you figured it out?

Alignment being off can definitely mess with the sensor's data. But given the diagnostic tool pointed to the sensor coding, it might be a good idea to get it checked out by a professional. If it's the sensor itself, you're probably looking at a sensor replacement.

I took it to a workshop. You were spot on - the steering angle sensor was faulty and needed recoding after they did the wheel alignment. Cost me 195€, but at least it's sorted!
