LC Tailgate Sensor Fault

I have a 2017 Lexus LC with a gasoline engine and 106567 km on the clock. Recently, I've been experiencing issues with the automatic tailgate. An error is being stored, and the tailgate only opens partially. Based on my initial diagnostics, the likely culprit is a defective cable or plug connection related to the tailgate hall sensor. Has anyone else encountered a similar sensor fault with their LC's power tailgate?

I also own a Lexus LC, although I cannot confirm the exact year. The issue you are describing sounds eerily familiar to a problem I encountered some time ago. It would be prudent to examine the sensor wiring and electrical sensor connections more closely. Could you perhaps elaborate on the specific error code being stored? That information might provide further insight.

Thanks for the quick response. I will double-check the error codes when I am back in the garage. When you say the sensor wiring, are you referring to the wiring harness that runs along the tailgate hinge? Or are there other connectors I should be inspecting?

Yes, when I mentioned the sensor wiring, I was primarily referring to the wiring harness and associated plug connections located near the tailgate hinge mechanism. Given that the error specifically implicates the hall sensor, a thorough inspection of the corresponding electrical sensor components and wiring integrity would indeed be a judicious course of action. It's entirely possible a loose connection or chafed wire could be the root cause. However, and I must strongly emphasize this, considering the sensitive nature of these systems, it would be advisable to consult with a qualified technician if the issue persists. I took mine to the shop and they sorted it out in no time.

Appreciate the additional details, and for sharing your experience. I am going to schedule an appointment with a workshop to have them take a look, as I don't want to risk making things worse. The estimate I received was around 95€, so it seems like a reasonably straightforward fix.
