Leaf Windshield Wipers Failure

My 2021 Nissan Leaf, electric engine, has about 218k km. The windshield wipers have stopped. There's an error code stored that I can't decipher. I suspect a faulty connection, but I'm not sure where to start.

Summary of the thread

The windshield wipers on a 2021 Nissan Leaf stopped working entirely, with an error code indicating a potential issue. Possible causes included a blown fuse, a faulty wiper motor, or issues with the steering column wiring harness. The problem was ultimately traced to a defective cable/plug connection, which was repaired at a workshop, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds frustrating! When you say 'stopped working,' do they not move at all, even on the highest setting? It could be a blown fuse, which is an easy fix, or something more complex like the wiper motor itself or even a problem with the steering column wiring harness. Does your Leaf have rain-sensing wipers? If so, that sensor could also be a culprit, though usually that causes intermittent issues, not a complete failure. Cruise control uses the same wiring harness, is that still functional?

Yes, they are completely dead, no movement whatsoever in any setting. It does not have rain-sensing wipers. You mentioned the 'steering column wiring harness'. Could you elaborate?

Sure. The wiring harness is a bundle of wires and connectors that supply power and signals to components attached to the steering column like the wipers, lights, turn signals, and sometimes even cruise control. If there's a break or loose connection within that harness, it can cause electrical problems. But if your cruise control is still working, the fault is more likely in the specific wiring for the wipers or the motor itself. Given that there's an error code stored, and it's a complete failure, diagnosing wiring issues without the proper tools and knowledge can be tricky. It might be best to take it to a workshop.

Thank you for the information. I took your advice and went to a workshop. It was the cable/plug connection of the component that was defective. The repair cost 95€. It is all working again now.
