That's a good point! I haven't checked the pads myself. Is it possible that worn pads are the only cause, or could there be a leak in the hydraulic brakes system somewhere? I want to be prepared when I take it in.

It could be just the pads, but you need to get it checked ASAP. A leak in the brake lines is a serious safety issue! Don't risk it; get it to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop; you were right, it was the brakes. Replacing them and topping off the fluid cost me 480€. Appreciate the help!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Lexus ES (not sure of the exact year). Have you checked your brake pads recently? Low brake fluid and weird pedal feel often go hand-in-hand with worn brakes. How thick are they?
