Encoder wheel, you say? So, not just the sensor itself? How did you figure that out?

Precisely. The initial diagnostic scan indicated a camshaft position sensor fault, but replacing the sensor alone didn't resolve the issue. Further investigation revealed the encoder wheel's teeth were damaged, resulting in inconsistent signals. Given your Lexus's symptoms and mileage, a visit to a qualified workshop for a thorough diagnosis would be prudent.

Alright, thanks for the insight. Took it to the shop. You were right, encoder wheel was the culprit. Repair ended up costing 695€. Appreciate the help.

That does sound familiar. I encountered similar symptoms with my 2014 Opel Insignia. The check engine light illuminated, and the engine exhibited misfire-like behavior at lower RPMs. The root cause was eventually traced to a defective encoder wheel on the camshaft, causing intermittent sensor failure. The engine control unit was receiving erratic signals, leading to the poor running condition.
