Lexus ES Key Battery Issue

I'm getting a 'key battery low' warning on my 2012 Lexus ES with a gasoline engine. It's got about 60k km on it. Now the keyless access doesn't work at all, and the car's throwing an error. Locking and unlocking is a pain. Anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Lexus ES owner experienced a 'key battery low' warning, leading to non-functional keyless access and an error message. The issue was identified as a dead key fob battery. The suggested solution was to replace the battery, which resolved the problem.

I had something similar happen with my ES. Is it completely dead? Like, no response at all from the key fob?

Yeah, pretty much dead. I have to hold it right next to the start button. Is that what happened to yours?

viviendunkel99

Yep, that's exactly what was happening. I ended up taking it to a workshop; they sorted it out quickly.

Thanks! The battery in the key was empty, as suspected. Cost me 37€ to get it replaced. Appreciate the help!
