Lexus ES Microphone Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Lexus ES is experiencing microphone issues, rendering the hands-free telephony system non-functional. The problem is suspected to be within the infotainment system, as indicated by a fault stored in the error memory. Attempts to resolve the issue through volume adjustments, Bluetooth checks, and speech recognition have failed. The suggested solution is to have the infotainment system diagnosed by a professional, with the possibility of needing a microphone repair or a full system replacement.

Yes, speech recognition is also completely unresponsive. The system acts like it doesn't hear anything. Did you ever pinpoint the cause in your Astra, or did you just replace components?

I never got to the bottom of it myself. I tried a few basic things, but ultimately, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was an issue within the infotainment system itself. Based on your symptoms, I'd suggest a visit to the shop.

Thanks for sharing! It's helpful to know someone else has encountered something similar. I'll schedule an appointment with my mechanic to have the infotainment system diagnosed. Hopefully, it's something less drastic than a full replacement, but I'm preparing for the worst. I appreciate the input!

Wow, that sounds eerily familiar! I had almost the exact same problem with my old Opel Astra a few years back. Bluetooth would connect, but the microphone was totally dead. Is your speech recognition also not working?
