Lexus ES Stiff Steering
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Lexus ES hybrid experienced stiff steering and occasional vibrations, suggesting a potential issue with the power steering system. The problem was identified as a faulty steering angle sensor, which can affect traction control and stability systems. The solution involved recoding the sensor and performing a wheel alignment, resulting in restored smooth steering.

Wheel alignment hasn't been checked recently, no. If it is the steering angle sensor, would that mean a full sensor replacement or is there a way to fix it?

The symptoms do point towards the steering angle sensor. Sometimes the coding of the sensor is faulty. A workshop can check it. They might need to replace the sensor.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a workshop, and you were right, it was a faulty coding of the steering angle sensor. They recoded it and did a wheel alignment for good measure. Cost 195€. Steering is smooth again!

That sounds like it could be a faulty steering angle sensor. Has the wheel alignment been checked recently? A defective sensor can also interact with the traction control and electronic stability systems.
