Lexus GS 2017 Engine Issues: Symptoms Indicating Possible Fuel Pump Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Lexus GS is experiencing engine issues, including flickering engine lights, power loss, unsteady performance, and difficulty starting, particularly in cold conditions. These symptoms suggest a potential fuel pump problem, possibly due to incorrect software values affecting its operation. A similar case with a 2014 Lexus IS was resolved by correcting the software values for the fuel pump, leading to improved performance. The suggested solution is to have a mechanic check and update the software values for the fuel pump to restore proper engine function.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience. That actually sounds very similar to what I'm going through with my GS right now - the awful cold starts and the weird unsteady engine thing. Good to know that getting the right software values sorted for the fuel pump eventually resolved your issue. By the way, do you recall how much you ended up shelling out at the garage for the repair? Also, has anything else popped up since then that I should be aware of? Cheers.

Hey there! I get what you're going through. As for the cost, it wasn't too hefty. I spent about 45€ to get those software values sorted out for the fuel pump. It was money well spent, I reckon, because honestly, she's been running like a champ ever since. That was the main problem, and it's been smooth sailing since the repair. No further issues have sprung up. Best of luck with your Lexus GS, I hope it gets to purring smoothly again soon!

Awesome, thanks again! It's a relief to hear that it may come down to something as straightforward as getting those software values corrected for the fuel pump. And 45€ is a steal given my Lexus GS might run like new again. Glad to hear your IS is doing well after the problem, gives me hope for my car. I'm going to bring it to the garage and make sure they look into the software values for the fuel pump. I appreciate you sharing your experience. Cheers!

Hey, sounds pretty similar to what I experienced with my 2014 Lexus IS not too long ago. The engine light creeping up and sudden power drop-off were driving me nuts. I eventually took her in to the garage and after a good check, they found a problem with the software values for the fuel pump. Apparently, this incorrect data was causing the fuel pump to play up and lead to an unsteady engine and tough cold starts. The mechanics needed to work on reinstalling the software with the correct values for the fuel pump. I must admit, it was a pretty serious issue, as the fuel pump is what feeds your car the right amount of gas, and any problem with it can mess up your car's performance big time. Anyway, theyaged to sort everything out and she's been running like a dream since then. Hope this helps and good luck with your GS!
