Lexus GS charge air temperature sensor error

I'm having trouble with my 2018 Lexus GS with a gasoline engine. The check engine light came on, and the car feels like it has way less power than usual. I also hear a whistling noise, almost like a loud hissing sound when I accelerate. I scanned it and got a charge air temperature sensor error. Could a defective cable or plug really cause all this? It's got 162737 km on it, and I'm a bit worried!

I had something similar happen with my GS. Check that sensor and its connections. Is the temperature fluctuating wildly when you monitor it?

Fluctuating wildly? How would I even check that? I'm not sure I have the equipment to monitor it live. Is it something a regular OBD2 scanner would show?

Yeah, an OBD2 scanner that shows live data should do the trick. If you don't have one, honestly, it might be worth just taking it to a trusted mechanic. My issue ended up being the sensor itself, and I had to have it replaced. Cost around 95€ if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out you were right, it was the sensor and a dodgy connection. Got it sorted at a workshop for about 95€. Appreciate the help!
