Lexus GS Exhaust Flap Defect

I have a 2014 Lexus GS with a gasoline engine. The exhaust noise is louder than usual, and the engine sounds quite noisy upon cold start. The check engine light is on, and the error memory indicates an issue with the exhaust flaps. With 235496 km, could the exhaust flaps be defective?

Loud exhaust and error codes pointing to the exhaust flaps definitely suggest a problem there. Could be a flap motor issue or the flaps themselves are stuck. Has engine performance been affected? Do you notice it more at certain RPMs?

Engine performance seems slightly impacted, especially at lower RPMs. What exactly is a flap motor, and how does it relate to the exhaust valves?

The flap motor controls the position of the exhaust flaps. They're designed to optimise engine performance and reduce noise. If they're stuck, it throws off the whole system. Considering the error code and symptoms, it's likely the actuator. A workshop visit might be a good idea to diagnose and fix that.

Your suggestion to check the flap motor was spot on. After visiting the workshop, the exhaust flaps were indeed defective. The repair cost me 190€, and now everything works as expected. I appreciate your time and support.
