Thanks for the reply! Accelerator pedal module, eh? Is there any way to check that myself, or is that something I'd need to take to a shop? I'm not exactly a mechanic, but I'm happy to try some basic stuff.

While basic diagnostic procedures can be attempted, accessing and testing the accelerator pedal module on a 2007 Lexus GS hybrid often requires specialized tools and diagnostic software. Given your novice expertise, it is prudent to consult a qualified technician for comprehensive assessment and repair.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it turns out the accelerator pedal module was indeed the culprit. They replaced it for 205€. Runs like a charm now!

Given the symptoms of higher fuel consumption and difficulty starting in your 2007 Lexus GS hybrid, a defective throttle valve is a plausible diagnosis. Furthermore, consider assessing the accelerator pedal module, as a malfunction there can influence throttle valve operation. Proceed with caution.
