Lexus GS Fuel Pump Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Lexus GS owner reported issues with starting, stalling, rough engine performance, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a check engine light. An error code indicated a potential fuel pump problem. It was suggested to check the voltage at the fuel pump connector, as a defective cable or plug could be the cause. Upon professional inspection, the issue was confirmed to be a faulty connection, which was repaired, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick response! I visually inspected the cable and plug, but I haven't actually tested the voltage at the pump itself. Is that a common point of failure?

Yes, it is. The error code and symptoms do indicate a fuel pump issue. However, before replacing the entire pump, I would strongly recommend measuring the voltage at the pump connector during operation. If there's no voltage, or unstable voltage, you likely have a wiring or connector problem. But, since you have no experience, it would be best to have a workshop check it.

Thanks a lot for the insight! I took your advice and brought it to a local mechanic. Turns out, it was indeed a defective cable or plug connection to the fuel pump, just as you suspected. The repair cost was only 95€. You saved me a ton of money and hassle!

I had a similar issue with my GS, though I didn't check the error codes myself. Are you sure about the connections? Have you checked the voltage at the pump?
