Lexus GS Hybrid Power Loss After Chip Tuning

I've noticed reduced engine power in my 2014 Lexus GS hybrid. A scan revealed an error. The car has about 94749 km. Any ideas on potential causes?

Summary of the thread

The 2014 Lexus GS hybrid experienced reduced engine power after undergoing chip tuning by a third party. A diagnostic scan revealed an error, likely linked to the ECU. The issue was identified as a problematic remap from the chip tuning, affecting the fuel-air mixture. A reputable workshop resolved the problem by reflashing the ECU.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my GS! Any aftermarket modifications, like chip tuning? My cheap scan tool only gave generic codes. A specialist said my ECU was acting up. Did your scanner mention the ECU?

Thanks! Yes, chip tuning was done by a third party. Could that be the problem? What kind of specialist are you referring to?

Yep, that's almost certainly it. Mine screwed up the fuel-air mixture. The 'specialist' was just a workshop with better diagnostic equipment, using a proper car diagnostic system. I'd suggest a reputable workshop for a proper diagnosis. Could be a messed-up remap.

I appreciate the help. A workshop confirmed the chip tuning caused the error. Reflashing the ECU fixed it, costing 180€.
