Lexus GS Hybrid TCM Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Lexus GS hybrid is experiencing starting issues, a check engine light, and jerky shifts, with a code indicating a problem with the parking position. The likely cause is a faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM), which may need replacement. An adjustment to the gear linkage was also suggested as a potential solution, but professional inspection confirmed the TCM as the primary issue.

TCM? Is that the transmission control module? Where is that located and how difficult is it to replace? And by adjustment, do you mean the gear linkage?

Yes, TCM is the Transmission Control Module. The TCM is often integrated within the transmission. Given the symptoms – engine won't start, shifting issues, and the error code – it's more than likely a faulty TCM. The 'adjustment' I was referring to is indeed the gear linkage. Given the complexity, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop.

Roger that. Shop confirmed the TCM issue and quoted 1000€ for the repair. Thanks for the confirmation.

I had a similar issue on my Lexus GS. Does it feel like it's not fully engaging into park? It could be the gear linkage acting up. Check the error memory for any transmission related fault codes. It might be a simple adjustment, but could also be the TCM.
