Lexus GS knock sensor issue

Hey, my 2018 Lexus GS with a gasoline engine is acting up. The check engine light is on, and my fuel consumption seems higher. Plus, the idling is uneven. Could this be a defective knock sensor? I checked the sensor, and the cable and plug look fine, but what else could it be?

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my old Volvo a while back – warning light, fuel efficiency tanked, and the engine was running rough. Have you checked for any obvious damage to the wiring harness near the sensor?

Wiring harness? Where exactly should I be looking for damage? Is it something obvious, or do I need to get in there with a magnifying glass?

Yeah, the harness. On the Volvo, it was chafing against the engine block. I'd give it a good look, but honestly, with those symptoms on a Lexus, it's probably worth getting it checked by someone who knows their stuff. Could save you a headache.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right – knock sensor was the culprit. Cable or plug was defective as predicted. Cost me 95€ to repair. Runs like new now!
