Lexus GS Overheating Radiator Fan Noise

Thanks! I had a quick look at the fan blades, they seem okay, not broken or anything. How would I test the thermal switch? Is that something I can do myself?

Testing the thermal switch can be a bit tricky without the right tools. You'd need to check for continuity with a multimeter when the engine reaches a certain temperature. However, given the age of your Lexus and the symptoms you're describing, it's likely the speed sensor defective that controls the radiator fan is faulty. I suggest taking it to a workshop to confirm, you might end up doing more harm than good trying to fix this yourself. Expect around 250€ for the repair.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'll take it to a mechanic. Thanks for the advice, appreciate it!

Overheating and check engine light, plus fan noise… sounds like it could be a cooling system issue, potentially related to the radiator fan. Have you checked the fan blades themselves? Are they spinning freely? Also, has the fan speed changed, or is it running constantly, even when the engine is cold? It could also be a faulty thermal switch that isn't telling the fan to kick on when it needs to.
