Lexus GS Oxygen Sensor Failure

Has anyone experienced an oxygen sensor heater failure on their 2013 Lexus GS hybrid? The check engine light came on, fuel consumption increased, and a diagnostic scan showed that error code. I checked the sensor and wiring but see nothing obvious. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Lexus GS hybrid experienced an oxygen sensor heater failure, indicated by a check engine light and increased fuel consumption. The issue was diagnosed through a scan showing an error code related to the oxygen sensor. After inspecting the sensor and wiring without finding obvious issues, a suggestion was made to check for corrosion in the connector. Following this advice, a mechanic confirmed a defective cable or plug connection, which was then repaired.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey! I had a similar issue with my old Volvo C70. Check engine light and all that. For me, it was a corroded connector on the O2 sensor wiring. Those little pins can get nasty, especially with weather changes. Might be worth a look before replacing sensors.

When you had the corroded connector issue on your Volvo C70, did the diagnostic scan specifically pinpoint the oxygen sensor, or did it indicate a more general problem with the air-fuel ratio? Were there any other symptoms besides the check engine light?

The scan definitely pointed at the O2 sensor, but the mechanic said it could be a faulty sensor OR a wiring issue. He checked the wiring first, and bam, corrosion. I did notice the engine was running a little rough at idle. If you're not comfortable messing with electrical stuff, I'd recommend taking it to a shop. That's what I did.

Thanks for the insight. Based on your experience with the Volvo, I had the cable and plug connection inspected more thoroughly. The mechanic confirmed that the cable or plug connection was indeed defective and they fixed it for 95€. Thanks again!
