Lexus GS Rain Light Sensor Issue

Thanks for the reply. I read about it online as a common cause for malfunctioning sensors, but I was hoping it was something else. But how severe was your issue, and are you sure it was the same?

Absolutely certain it was the same issue! At first, my rain-sensing wipers were acting like a hyperactive drummer – erratic and out of sync. Then came the headlight shenanigans. It was as if the car was perpetually stuck in 'night mode,' regardless of the actual daylight. Best you can do is have the windshield and sensor assembly checked at a trusted workshop.

Thanks a lot for confirming. I appreciate the advice; I'll take it to the workshop and have them check it out. It turns out it was precisely as you described and as I suspected. They replaced the gel pad which cost me 62€

Interesting issue you're having there. I also own a Lexus GS. Your symptoms sound remarkably like what I experienced a while back. If you're handy, think of it like this: your windshield is the canvas, the gel pad is the artist's medium, and those bubbles are like unwanted brushstrokes messing up the masterpiece! Could be the sensor is not getting an accurate read because of those imperfections. How did you come to suspect the bubbles under the gel pad?
